The governing body of the Housing Authority is the Board of Commissioners, composed of five members appointed by the Mayor for two-year terms. The Board currently meets on the last Wednesday of each month at noon to establish policies that provide people with decent housing and opportunities for the future. The Commissioners serve without pay and often sacrifice personal and business interests to establish policy and provide broad direction to the Housing Authority staff. The current board members are:
Janet Roy Hudson, Chairman
Beth Williams, Vice Chairman
Janie Bates, Commissioner
Craig Davis, Sr., Commissioner
Thurman Jackson, Resident Commissioner
The Executive Director serves as secretary of the board as well as administering the day-to-day operations of the Authority and implementing the policies set by the Board.
